Friday 28 October

Having been safely delivered to Retford station by Graeme, we got the 1818 train to London King's Cross.

We waited on the platform and did our good deed for the day by befriending a young Iranian lady.

The train was great and we arrived in London at 1950. Pretty sure that Rother Valley MP, Alexander Stafford was seated near to us. Elizabeth could not believe how lovely King's Cross station is now (she needs to get out more - Ed).

It's completely different to how she remembered it - light and airy with loads of shops and eateries. We were hungry so dashed to Greggs just as it was closing so had to go to Waitrose where the shelves were virtually bare, but we managed.

Then it was a 10-minute walk to the Euston Premier Inn. There was a nutty woman kicking off in reception, so we quickly checked in and went to our room to eat and settle to sleep.
